Centos 8 Formula Updates

Still working on the “simple” formula settings. There are two road-blocks that showed up last week:

  • ops-minion has errors using the lifecycle flag for kitchen
  • the devops buildhost cant be updated easily since we only have the one

In order to update the buildhost I spun up a vm, houcicddev11.
The problems with the cpu passthru were documented in another post.
Herman █████ helped me by adding the configuration settings for me this morning.

I installed the saltdk package and have been having nothing but trouble with it. I found out that I installed an old version and that the new version was sitting in the local7-testing tag in koji. I asked Javaria ██████ to review and tag to local7-stable when ready.

The saltdk package has been sitting in testing since May.

We tested the newer package and it still failed to deploy on Centos 7. It appears that the gem file install fails to grab any of the provided gems.

The team decided to move forward with python3 in the test environment. Javaria ██████ and I updated the version of python on houcicddev11 to python3. I removed python2-pytest and saltdk (dependency). Installed python36-paramiko.

Created a system-wide symlink

alternatives --install /usr/bin/py.test pytest /usr/bin/py.test-3.6 99.

Installed another dependency

yum install python36-yaml

All of these changes require that the saltdk package be updated to support python 3.

The host houcicddev11 was manually updated to work using the steps outlined above.

I opened an issue in img-instance-builds for the missing at package in loc-centos7-vmware.
